EQUESTRIAN CENTER

Owners

Tom & Meg Massung

The Torreon Equestrian Center is located in an ideal location for trail riding in the beautiful Sitgreaves National Forest in the White Mountains of Arizona.  Our facility abuts the groomed marked trails of “Tracks” trail system.

We also have an exceptionally large (52 x 88 yard) arena that is available for dressage and exercising your horse on the property.

My husband, Tom, and I purchased the equestrian center in 2021 and have made many improvements over the 3 year period, including building a hay storage barn, adding 8 new large turnouts, installing automatic waterers, and numerous upgrades to fencing and overall maintenance of the facility.  We also added 3 RV hookups and added a 37 foot RV Trailer, all available for rental.

Prior to the start of the 2022 season, we added a rental cabin, “Haflinger House”, with a large turnout and a 12′ x 24′ run-in for 2 horses.  This “Haflinger House” is ideal for someone looking to get out of the Arizona heat with their horse and have fun trail riding in the White Mountains.

To start the 2024 season, we have added a second mare motel with 8 stalls that expands our facility to 37 horse boarding stalls.

I am an avid trail rider and have enjoyed riding in the White Mountains for the past 11 summers.  During winter months, my husband and I have a small ranch with my 4 horses in Gold Canyon, AZ.  I love riding in the desert as well!  I feel so lucky to be able to trail ride all year long in great weather and on beautiful trails.

Barn Manager

Alexis

Barn Manager

Hi! My name is Alexis and I am the Barn Manager at Torreon Equestrian Center. My love for horses started at a young age; my parents had a 40 horse show training barn with Arabian horses, and I spent nearly every day on the back of a horse.  It was my mom who inspired my true love for horses and animals in general.

I got my very first pony when I was three years old, her name was Suzie, and she taught me everything I needed to know about how to love and care for horses and how not to fall off! I competed for many years on the Arabian show circuit and one of my greatest dreams was to win National Champion. At the age of 18, that dream came true; my horse Primo and I won champion in the Half Arabian Hunter Pleasure division, and that is a day I will never forget.

I spent the last 5 years working in the Corporate world, but realized that atmosphere is not what I love doing. I’m a cowgirl at heart and decided that moving to Show Low would allow me to live my life doing what I love – being outdoors around animals and nature. I also have a black Labrador named Brody, who is my best bud and loves the outdoors, especially anything to do with water! I am very excited to be at TEC and look forward to caring for your beautiful horses and creating memories together!
